Wilding Self-Defense: A Journey of Awareness for Columbus Women

Yesterday, February 4, the self-defense course dedicated to the women of the Columbus Group came to an end. Structured over two evenings, the course represented much more than a simple training opportunity.

Held at the City Angels headquarters, the course was led by Mario Furlan, founder of City Angels and creator of the Wilding method—an approach to self-defense that places the individual, awareness, and prevention at the center, even before physical techniques.

Throughout the sessions, participants were guided through a path that alternated between theoretical insights and practical activities, with the aim of providing concrete tools to recognize potentially risky situations, strengthen self-confidence, and learn how to react instinctively and consciously. The Wilding method, in fact, is not based on physical strength, but on the ability to read the environment, trust one’s instincts, and adopt effective behaviors in everyday life.

The two evenings also became an important opportunity for sharing and open dialogue, fostered by an atmosphere of genuine listening, participation, and openness. An experience that allowed colleagues to pause, reflect, and grow together—strengthening not only personal skills, but also a shared sense of belonging and community.

A heartfelt thank you to Mario Furlan for his valuable advice and teachings, as well as for the openness and enthusiasm with which he involved us in a truly deep and enriching experience.
Our thanks also go to the City Angels for their hospitality and for the human values they promote every day through their work.

A special thought goes to all the women of Columbus, our colleagues, who took part with curiosity, openness, and great energy, making these two evenings a meaningful opportunity for growth, awareness, and shared experience.

Initiatives like this reaffirm how important it is to invest in people—their well-being and their safety—both inside and outside the workplace.
