On 1 st June will be ​officially opened the new Gottardo tunnel, the longest rail tunnel in the world and the central point of the new transalpine railway. This huge​ work intends to shift increasing amounts of freight traffic from road to rail and r​e​presents the ​chance ​for​ a profitable, reliable and competitive railroad switch between north and south for the five countries crossed by the Rotterdam-Genova corridor (Holland, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Italy). In this context Italy strengthens its relationship with Switzerland and it’s preparing to play the important role of “​n​ew European logistics door”.
